Solar Flares

I had to include Solar Flares because I believe this is one of the REAL threats that we are about to face, and we don't even know anything about it | them. Let say the economy doesn't collapse, and the world keeps going along in continual bliss. Now let say that a large enough solar flare happens that it knocks out the worlds power grid for a week, a month, how about a year?  What do you think is going to happen?  No TV or XBox for a week or a month!  And don't think about text messaging or calling a friend!  And how many times can you get to the grocery store on a tank of gas, because all the gas stations will be closed (no electricity to run the pumps).  And besides, all of the food at the grocery store will be gone or spoiled because there isn't any electricity to keep the freezers running!
